Milwaukee stretches out portfolio with M12 FUEL Extended Reach Ratchets
LAS VEGAS—Milwaukee Tool has expanded its M12 FUEL lineup with new 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" Extended Reach Ratchets, which use a new POWERSTATE brushless outer rotor motor “to have the best combination of power and speed," explained Kimberly Lesley, the Milwaukee brand manager leading Fleet Maintenance through its expansive booth at the 2025 SEMA show.
With the previous generation of extended reach ratchets, Lesley noted a user would have to decide if they wanted higher torque or higher speed. But those days are gone with the new motor design.
“We've been able to decrease the size of our motor 20% and increase the power by 20%,” Lesley said. “It's the first time that we've done this, unlocking so much for us. [These tools] are lighter, more compact, and smaller.”
For instance, the previous 3/8” high-speed version maxed out at only 35 ft.-lbs. and 450 rpm, while the High Torque maxed out at 55 ft.-lbs.
With the second generation's new motor, the 1/4" ratchet delivers up to 45 ft.-lbs. of max torque and up to 550 rpm, the 3/8" generates 70 ft.-lbs. and 400 rpm, and the 1/2" version produces up to 80 ft.-lbs. to loosen fasteners and 300 rpm.
The foot-long tools, available in January 2026, now weigh around 1.5-1.7 lbs. bare, and allow technicians better access to tight engine bays and around crowded components.
“They really eliminate the need to unscrew other parts to get into places farther—you're able to just reach right in," Lesley offered.
And as with other Milwaukee power tools, the compact, detachable battery can be shared among M12 family members.
The ratchets are also built with a contoured grip to more comfortably fit the user's hand and a modular trigger cap system, allowing each tool to be customized based on user preference.
"You don't have to choose just one," Lesley continued. "Each tool will come with both a button and a paddle, and you can swap them out for whatever you'd like."
Additional features include a targeted LED work light, multiple trigger options, battery isolation system, and an optimized raised forward/reverse shuttle, plus an optional protective boot to protect the tool and work surfaces.
