CTEK announces improved on-board charging solution

Nov. 13, 2019
The D250SE and Smartpass 120S, give technicians an on-board power solution – compatible with all 12V service batteries, including lithium (12V LiFePO4).

The ever increasing issues of larger power requirements, restrictions on space and weight, together with more complex vehicle technology and different battery chemistries mean smarter, more flexible, and more effective solutions to on-board battery charging are needed.

To meet these increasingly complex power demands CTEK, a leading global brand in battery charging, care, and maintenance has launched the CTEK D250SE (a 20A DC/DC battery charger) and the CTEK Smartpass 120S (a 120A power management system), giving technicians an on-board power solution – compatible with all 12V service batteries, including lithium (12V LiFePO4 ).

D250SE

Compatible with smart alternators, the D250SE delivers 20A of power to charge, condition, and maintain any 12V service battery whilst on the move. Its dual input capability means it can also draw power from a solar source. Other features include:

Flexible charging | A built-in temperature sensor compensates for hot or cold conditions, so your batteries are fully charged in the shortest possible time without the risk of over or undercharging. It has three charging modes; normal (14.4V), AGM (14.7V), and lithium (12V LiFePO4 ).

Direct connection for solar power | The battery charger includes an input for connecting solar panels without the need for a regulator. It also features a Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) to get the maximum power out of the solar panels.

Smart alternator compatibility | Smart alternators deliver a variable output and are shut off when they’re not needed. The D250SE will still operate even when there is low alternator output and maintain a stable output of up to 20A to fully charge the battery in the shortest time.

Smartpass 120S

A fully automatic 120A power management system that distributes power between the starter battery, the service battery, and onboard equipment, without the need for traditional diodes or VSR relays. Key features of the Smartpass 120S include:

Smart alternator compatibility | The Smartpass continues to deliver power to the service battery even when there is low alternator output.

Current source priority | It supplies power to critical equipment directly from the alternator when the engine is running. This means critical functions like starters, radios, emergency lights, and communication systems always have the power they need and take priority over non-critical functions.

Start assistance | Smartpass uses power from the service battery to help get the engine started if the starter battery is flat.

“Our new D250SE and Smartpass 120S units mean that we can guarantee a solution to any 12V set-up regardless of vehicle set-up or battery chemistry, offering even greater flexibility,” said Bobbie DuMelle, EVP of North America, CTEK. “Both of these unique units have been developed to work as standalone units or together as a complete system. Combined together, our powerful, safe and flexible charging solution gives you the ability to manage and control your power more effectively – whatever your requirements.”

Each unit comes with a two-year warranty.
