The SOLD17 (Service Opportunities Learning Days) event is slated for Jan. 22-23, 2017, at the Mirage in Las Vegas, and once again offers a terrific line up of presenters, educators and advisors to help improve service offerings.
Derek Kaufman will open the programs on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 1 PM. Kaufman is known in the industry for his knowledge in the future offerings by the OEM manufacturers.
He will discuss new advancements in technology that is expected to be seen in the next five years. New technology will include safety, power train efficiency, reduced vehicle weight and driver comfort. This presentation will outline what automotive professionals will need to know and the tools needed to service the new equipment.
Kaufman will be followed by Paul Jones of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Solutions. Jones will discuss the importance of providing the proper parts to customers. When was the vehicle produced and what components were used when the vehicle was produced? Jones will also discuss advanced ABS systems and how they work. These include the collision avoidance system, the lane departure system and steering wheel sensors. These are all systems that can be affected by a technician inadvertently while performing maintenance such as spring replacement, king pin replacement and front end alignment. The importance is knowing how to diagnose and reset the sensors if a problem exists.
SOLD17 is produced by ACOFAS, a technician education association that produces two programs annually to help raise the knowledge and skill level of our current technicians.
