The Fifth Generation of the Freightliner Cascadia starts production in the summer of 2025, but lead editors from Fleet Maintenance and FleetOwner were invited along with other members of the trucking press for a special preview in early October. The latest version improves fuel efficiency 1.9% over the fourth gen, which debuted in 2019.
That might not sound like much, but for fleets with hundreds of trucks that drive over 100,000 miles per year, it does add up. Better efficiency also leads to fewer emissions generated and less wear and tear on the engine. In an industry like trucking with razor-thin margins, every little bit helps.
But what are these changes and how will they help fleets’ bottom lines. And what other physical changes can customers expect with the latest Cascadia?
The OEM’s on-highway product marketing manager, Miranda Richardson, went over the details, covering everything from aerodynamic improvements to advanced driver assistance features.
