VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 121 - Navistar-Volkswagen Truck & Bus Alliance

Dec. 19, 2016
Anders Nielsen, CTO of Volkswagen Truck & Bus, discusses the company’s recent strategic alliance with Navistar International.

In September, Navistar International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus formed a wide-ranging strategic technology, supply and procurement alliance.

Navistar is a holding company whose subsidiaries and affiliates produce International brand commercial and military trucks, proprietary diesel engines and IC Bus brand school and commercial buses. Volkswagen Truck & Bus – which includes an equity investment in Navistar – is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG and is a global leader in commercial vehicles.

Anders Nielsen – CTO of Volkswagen Truck and Bus – says the alliance will offer multiple benefits and opportunities to both companies.

An alliance board – comprising top-level executives from both companies – will oversee the joint venture.

I asked Nielsen if the market could expect joint vehicle development.

Collaboration on connected vehicle solutions is a key element of the alliance.

There is much enthusiasm about the alliance at both companies.
