The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary of the Goodyear Blimp, the first of which took flight in 1925. The official anniversary is June 3, 2025, but the company will be celebrating throughout the year by sending the blimp to more cities and events, as well as providing more opportunities for a select few to take to the skies.

"The Goodyear Blimp is an enduring symbol of both nostalgia and innovation for fans around the world,” said Mark Stewart, CEO and President of Goodyear. “With its century-long history and unique ability to instill a sense of wonder in those who experience it – whether from on the ground or in the air, the blimp gives Goodyear a way to connect with the public in a way no other tire company can match.”

For its centennial year, the Goodyear Blimp will be flying over 100 cities across North America and Europe, and attending sports matches, music festivals, and cultural events. The first of these celebrations was on Jan. 1, where the blimp appeared at the Rose Bowl Stadium during the 111th annual Rose Bowl Game.

Additionally, Goodyear is offering three U.S. residents the chance to win a blimp flight for two passengers through the “Buy for a Chance to Fly” sweepstakes. Those wishing to enter can do so via a form on Goodyear.com. Winners will receive two tickets that can be redeemed at any of Goodyear’s three U.S. airship bases in Carson, California; Pompano Beach, Florida; or Akron, Ohio; and as well as a $3,000 voucher for travel and accommodations. The sweepstakes will run from Jan. 1 to April 10.

Those who are interested can see future blimp appearances at the company’s website.
