ICF, a company that provides advisory and technological services, is launching its new platform PowerGuide, which is designed to help utility fleets better understand and make choices for electrification planning.
“Utility customers are trying to navigate a complex landscape to make decisions about their fleet electrification programs,” said Anne Choate, ICF executive vice president for energy, environment, and infrastructure. “We are excited to introduce PowerGuide to help streamline this process and enhance utilities’ ability to engage with their customers.”

PowerGuide is cloud-based and provides fleets with educational resources, analytics, custom dashboards, and more, all of which can offer real-time insights into the costs and benefits of electrification for a specific fleet. For instance, the program features an EV library to show available medium- and heavy-duty electric makes and models, as well as a funding database to help guide users through available grants and incentive programs. Additionally, PowerGuide’s real-time dashboards can help fleets understand their charging systems and how their choices will impact their capacity, load, and reliability.
Additionally, the company stated that the platform can integrate with a fleet’s existing technology and electrification programs and identify potential customers.
Other specific features to help fleets gauge their EV costs include an operational cost estimator, an emissions savings calculator, and sample fleet expense estimates for fleets similar to the user’s. In the future, ICF is also looking to add features such as dynamic rate modeling, charging optimization, and facility/grid infrastructure upgrade analysis.
