Ace Tool training session: Innova Pro helps distributors serve new markets
Automotive technicians are anxious for scan tools that allow them to diagnose repairs quickly and easily. Hence, mobile distributors anxious to learn more about state-of-the-art diagnostic tools filled a training session led by Erick Esparza, sales manager at Innova Electronics Corp. during the recent Ace Tool Co. National Dealer Expo at the Hilton St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Esparza discussed Innova’s Professional-grade automotive diagnostic tools, the Innova Pro line. He referred to these units as “plug and play,” meaning the shop owner can hand the Innova Pro to a technician and not have to spend a lot of time instructing the tech in its use. “It’s not a big investment for the technician,” he said.
These tools are designed to help diagnose and repair “check engine” problems on 1981 to current vehicles; and troubleshoot anti-lock brake system and supplemental restraint system problems on newer model OBD2 vehicles. Esparza noted that the tools have PC-linked software, free updates, optional upgrades, warranty support, technical support, end user support and sales support.
Esparza noted that the Innova Pro line helps shops expand to service emerging markets, such as the do-it-yourselfers and fleet managers. Mobile distributors that understand their shop customers are expanding in these markets will be in a better position to help their customers improve profits.
More shops are servicing car owners who want to do their own maintenance, Esparza said.
Some fleet owners prefer to outsource their maintenance to shops that distributors sell to, he noted.
Innova offers a service with all its OBD tools called RepairSolutions. This program provides technicians with fast, reliable, up-to-date solutions to real world problems. RepairSolutions consists of data compiled over the last 15 years by teams of skilled engineers and ASE certified technicians.
In addition, Esparza said many body and collision shops are doing more entry level repair work. Esparza noted that Innova has a technician hotline available Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The company also has videos, manuals and sales literature.
